Where it all started
Language of the Quran first ever course was held in the year 2005 at Queen Mary, University of London, where our senior lecturer Shahena Hussain was an undergraduate student. These were once weekly classes held on a Wednesday afternoons, mainly attended by undergraduates and postgraduates at the university and some people living in the local community.
Where we are now
We then held another weekend Beginners Arabic language course in the 2008 at the Islamic Dawah Centre in East Ham. This course was very popular and highly successful, attended by many women. Following the success of this course we taught several weekend “Beginner” courses at the Upton Park Islamic Centre which has continued to be our venue for the past 4 years. We now offer Arabic courses at varying levels from foundation to advanced. We try to cater for all students through providing weekend, evening, day-time, part-time and intensive courses.
The Importance of Knowledge, the Significance of Women
Women are half of the Ummah (muslim population) and they give birth to the other half. The woman is Islam.
“You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation.” – Brigham Young
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” – Nelson Mandela
Currently our day-time courses are held in the Upton Park Islamic Centre and our evening courses are held in a venue not far from the Centre. We at Language of the Quran are passionate about delivering quality yet affordable Arabic courses. We are highly ambitious about serving our community. We are currently planning and will inshaAllah soon deliver a series of fun days, summer schools and a range of children’s islamic books.
Success is only from Allah. May Allah accept this from us and make our deeds for Him alone. Ameen.
